A small cottage sat in dense forest alongside the creek prior to construction. The owner, who was older asked for the house to be on one level even though the site is relatively steep. In order to minimize bulk we utilized the cantilevered trusses below the main floor allowing the house to “float” above the creek. This area has significant ground movement so deep piers were drilled under each truss. The exterior is finished in clear Redwood to better blend in with the surrounding trees.
